Step 2 — Common issues
Common Issues
If the documentation didn’t resolve it, check these known issues and fixes.
Most of my plugins say “Not enough evidence yet”
PluginTidy waits 30 days before judging how a plugin is used, and holds back when too few checks could run on it. Findings that need no waiting period appear straight away - the same plugin installed twice, an add-on whose parent product is switched off, a one-off job tool - as do risk facts such as a plugin pulled from the directory.
The audit seems to stall, or an admin page is slow
The audit runs in timed batches chained by the screen itself, never through WP-Cron, so it keeps working on sites where cron is broken. Leave the audit tab open until it finishes. Each batch stops on a clock rather than a fixed number of plugins, so a slow directory lookup cannot hold an admin page open.
Quarantine, snapshots and reports are missing
Those are the paid half. Activate your licence under PluginTidy → Account and they appear. Everything the audit and the change log do stays available without a licence, with no limits on how many plugins are audited.
It warns that snapshots are only protected by an unguessable address
On nginx an .htaccess file does nothing, so the snapshot folder can still be served over HTTP even though it cannot be listed. That is real protection but not a wall, and the screen shows the exact nginx rule to add. If the folder turns out to be listable, PluginTidy refuses to write snapshots at all.
Step 3 — Still need help?
Submit a Support Ticket
